L’ŒIL DE POISSON, CENTRE DE D’ART ACTUEL, QUEBEC CITY, CANADA

“Walk This Way I, Walk this way II” March 7 — April 6, 2003
Reception Friday March 7, 6:00-9:00 PM
541 Rue Saint-Vallier E, Québec, Canada.

Promoting experimental and breakthrough art practices as a response to topical issues within contemporary art, the center invited Liedgren to create work based on the premise of beauty and aspect of time. Inspired by the German artist Wolfgang Laib (who makes use of pollen in his installations), the piece Walk this way I, Walk this way II featured two large drawings in the center’s small exhibition space. Utilizing the color yellow (evoking transitions in nature, specifically pollen) and craft to draw attention to the surface, Liedgren played with the formal aspects of painting while interacting with memory as a personal subjective matter.
