DOCP Project – a documentation of a creative process (sequence one).

DoCP – documentation of a creative process

This meditative body of work consists of 46 works on paper, presented in pairs. Each pair represents an idea given visual form—for example, a rhythm, motion or musical progression is indicated through black, white, and silver dots inside circles and grids.

The project pushes abstraction to its limits by way of gradual shifts and slow progression, encouraging the viewer to explore how each drawing is unique yet closely connected to the one before and the one succeeding. Composition and content are unified within a formal structure. Approaching the work in this way allows for both play and accountability to be present in the artist’s decision-making process while creating.

The first sequence of this drawing project DoCP – documentation of a creative process were exhibited at Kittredge Gallery at the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA (2002) and at the Nordic Museum in Seattle, WA (2006).
